There is a proposal submitted with Govt, to develop/widen road connecting Avinashi Road (at Jenny's Club, CIT) and Mettupalayam Road (at Nallampalayam) through Ganapathy. Another road, connecting Avinashi Road and Vilankurichi Road beside Tidal Park. More Roads in the Anvil.
About Rs 3500 Cr is available for infrastructure development in Coimbatore in the next 6 years. It is expected that this feature will make land prices go high esp., near major roads.
A 6-lane road for Avinashi Road between Neelambur and Uppilipalayam is under very serious planning. MRT and elevated road are also possibilities in Coimbatore in the next 5 years. Plans for major development are underway.

A private SEZ (26 acres) with IT Park is expected to begin soon development work in Pollachi Road, near Eachanari.
Roads
A State Level Committee has been formed under state G.O, to provide for Urban Road Connectivity and Traffic management in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai.
A District level subcommittee has also been formed under the chairmanship of the Collector, for coimbatore.
Chief Secretary met the sub-committee today and suggested three aspects: Time saving, Cost saving and Shortest Distance.
Four groups have been formed to finalise proposals within 3 months and to start implementing within the following 3 months. So, in about 6 months new roads and/or widening of existing roads are quite possible
Jn-nurm Scheme has now been extended to roads, water, ugd, etc., in Panchayats and Municipalities. Wilbur Smith Ltd is preparing a report on requirements within Coimbatore LPA region. This means all surrounding areas of Coimbatore Corporation, even upto Karumathampatti will benefit.
We can expect Kavundampalayam, Kurichi, Vilankurichi, Kalappatti, etc., to get better facilities.
Under the Jn-nurm, centre gives 50%, State 30% and local body 20% funds.
